    Overview

APS and Albuquerque's Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) (previously known as TVI) have formed a joint venture to combine Career Enrichment Center (CEC) courses with identified pathways to allow students to complete both their high school diploma and, optionally, an associate degree within five years. The Early College Academy provides a continuum of instruction from entering high school classes to college classes. A "fast track" to a college degree is possible through the integration of APS and CNM classes in one location, streamlining curriculum, and fostering a strong focus on students. By combining the resources of the CEC and CNM, students in the academy obtain a strong college-preparatory education and receive college credit that can be applied to an associate or university degree.

  • Mission/Vision
    Mission and Vision Statements

    Mission

The Early College Academy is an open-access, student-focused high school offering rigorous programs that lead students toward the successful completion of post-secondary credit. The Early College Academy challenges students to perform at high academic levels and facilitates simultaneous attainment of college credit in a dynamic high-tech career pathway.

    Vision

Preparing for the future, one student at a time, Early College Academy connects students to high-skill/high-wage careers through dual enrollment in college courses. Dual Enrollment is the centerpiece strategy to improve college access and the successful transition of students from secondary to post-secondary education.

  • Admissions
    Admissions

Students may apply online (Select Special Programs) for the Early College Academy. All students must fill out and submit a written application form and transcripts.

There are sixty slots allotted for students in each grade level of the ECA. Applications for the 2008-2009 school year that are received by April 1, 2008 will be considered 'Early Decision' pending verification of grades; those 'Early Decision' applications will be used to fill openings in the Academy based on date of application submission. If any openings remain, all applications received after April 1 will be entered into a lottery system to determine student acceptance. If no openings remain, applicants can request to be placed on the waiting list.
